Sara Carter: McCabe ‘is in a lot of hot water’ and ‘if justice is served’ he’ll be ‘served with an indictment’

(NationalSentinel) Investigative reporter Sara A. Carter said during an appearance on Fox News‘ “Hannity” program Monday evening that fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who was just hired by CNN to be an ‘analyst,’ is “in a lot of hot water” over his “Spygate” role, and that “if justice is served, he’ll be served with an indictment.”
Carter noted that McCabe, as former FBI Director James Comey’s second-in-command, was neck-deep in the coup attempt against President Donald Trump, lying multiple times to the Justice Department inspector general and others about his various roles.
“What we know is that McCabe actually lied three times under oath to the inspector general, and he lied a fourth time, [in] which he was not under oath,” she said. “He also leaked information” to the media when he was not authorized to do so.
“And remember, let’s talk about this. He leaked information to The Wall Street Journal to try to build himself up. And he leaked information regarding the Clinton Foundation investigation,” she said.
Carter noted further that Comey never authorized McCabe to leak any information to anyone — a point of contention between the two men as McCabe, at one point, claimed that Comey was both aware of his leak and gave permission for it.
In an interview with MSNBC in April 2018, Comey told host Rachel Maddow that McCabe “had authorization” as deputy director to talk to the media, but that he never told his boss that he was speaking to the WSJ.
“I know that he didn’t tell me about it, didn’t ask me about it before he did it. I think the inspector general’s report is right in that respect. And I would have expected that,” Comey said. “But I think he had the authority to do that and I think if he were here he would say I didn’t need to talk to the boss because I had the authority to do that. And that’s a hard one because given all that was going on at that point, I would have expected him to talk to me but as a matter of rule he had the authority.”
Carter noted that even though McCabe may have technically had authorization, “Comey was in charge, he was the director, he did not authorize any leaks whatsoever and secondly, [McCabe] was involved in the foreign intelligence surveillance act applications on Carter Page.”
Page was the 2016 Trump campaign official targeted by the FBI and President Obama’s deep state intelligence apparatus for surveillance as part of “Crossfire Hurricane,” the code name for the Spygate investigation.
The FBI got at least three warrants from the secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court to spy on Page using — according to multiple reports — the unverified, bogus “Russia dossier” concocted by former British spy Christopher Steele, an FBI asset, on behalf of the Clinton campaign.
“Every bit of information on McCabe has been handed over to [U.S. Attorney] John Durham and he has been looking through that with a fine comb because if anybody knows what was going on, it was Mccabe,” Carter continued.
“He was known to try to invoke the 25th [amendment] against the president and trying to secretly get [former Deputy Attorney General] Rod Rosenstein to record the president,” added. “All of this was on McCabe’s plate and so he is in a lot of hot water, he has a lot of questions that need to be answered and if justice is served, he will be served an indictment.”
We’ll see. The case continues to be investigated by Durham, on orders from Attorney General William Barr, while Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s final report on a host of Spygate-related incidents continues to be pushed back — ostensibly because new witnesses keep ‘reluctantly’ coming forward.
Then again, all of this could be masterful political theater by President Trump, who no doubt will have a say as to when all of this will finally come spilling out as the 2020 campaign cycle rolls on.
